Description |
Start and finish on Ferrymead Park Drive and meander around the Matuku Lakes on this gentle loop walk that utilises the various paths in Ferrymead Park. The lakes were originally designed as a flood retention pond and aspirationally named for the Australasian bittern, or Matuku, which hopefully will return one day to Christchurch's wetlands. Wear sturdy shoes when the weather has been wet as the track is likely to get muddy. Please keep dogs under control to avoid disturbing nesting birds. Get ready for this track using Plan My Walk(external link)(external link) by the NZ Mountain Safety Council. You can find track alerts, weather forecasts, trip reviews and a packing list, so you are set for your adventure. |
