Long Term Plan 2018 to 2028 – Our plan

Repairing our pipes and roads remains a high priority. We need to keep the city running and provide libraries, community facilities and events we enjoy.

Community facilities

Our portfolio includes community centres, statues and jetties through to large buildings such as the Town Hall, Art Gallery and Tūranga knowledge centre.

Drinking water

Groundwater aquifers are the source of high quality drinking water for urban Christchurch, Lyttelton, Diamond Harbour and Governors Bay.

Parks and heritage

Christchurch has a network of more than 130km of walking and mountain biking tracks.

Stormwater and flood protection

Parts of Christchurch have always been prone to flooding, and the earthquakes have only made the flood risk worse.

Transport

Christchurch residents have identified roading as their top priority.

Wastewater

Wastewater is the used water that leaves our homes and businesses – from kitchens, laundries, bathrooms and toilets.
