We are renewing the watermain pipe and submain pipes on Glandovey Road and Pentlow Place, as they have reached the end of their serviceable life.

Due to recent incidents involving burst water pipes along Glandovey Road, between Thornycroft Street and Idris Road, and along Pentlow Place, we are prioritising a full water supply renewal of watermain and submain pipes in this area. The watermain is located underground in the road, while the submains pipes feed each property and are located under the road, footpath and berm.

Investigation work started on Thursday 21 August 2025 and took around two weeks to complete. This involved identifying the exact position of existing services underground to support the design and installation of the new water main and submains.

Main works

The renewal works, which are expected to take three months, involve pumping underground water, trenching and excavation works, and the installation of 765 metres of new mains and 835 metres of new submains. At the end of this project, the road will be completely reinstated with new asphalt.

Pentlow Place

We began work along Pentlow Place on 1 September 2025, and this will take approximately one month to complete. A temporary road closure is in place during work hours (7.30am to 5pm). The road closure will be lifted before work on Glandovey Road begins. See the start works notice.(external link)

Glandovey Road

Work on Glandovey Road will begin on Wednesday 17 September and is scheduled to take until 19 December to complete.

The westbound lane of traffic will be closed for a period during construction, meaning traffic will only be able to flow eastwards towards Idris Road. A signposted detour will be in place for westbound traffic.

Other traffic impacts can be expected such as shoulder closures, temporary traffic lights and footpath closures while these works are being undertaken. Please follow all signage and pay attention to any changes.

On-street parking will also be temporarily removed where needed. If your vehicle remains in a restricted area, we may need to tow it to a nearby location outside our work site to keep our work on schedule.
