We’re replacing a 300 metre section of wastewater pipe on Centaurus Road, between Kowhai Terrace and St Martins Road.

The section of wastewater pipe between 131 and 174 Centaurus Road was repaired after the earthquakes, but the original pipe and the repair work are now both failing, so the pipe needs to be replaced.

We’re working hard to keep traffic impacts to a minimum and get the job done as quickly as we can, so we can get out of your way.

Contractors will be on-site from 12 January to 24 April 2026.

Work will be completed in three stages:

  • Stage 1 – 172 to 162 Centaurus Road.
  • Stage 2 – 160 to 141 Centaurus Road.
  • Stage 3 – 141 to 135 Centaurus Road.

Traffic impacts

Traffic management will be clearly signposted to help residents and commuters plan ahead.

A traffic light system will be in place between 131 and 174 Centaurus Road. There will be a no exit on Kowhai Terrace onto Centaurus Road.

Bus routes will be impacted – check Metro Info(external link) online for details.

Please see the start works notice(external link) for more details about the impacts of this work.

We appreciate your patience while we carry out this essential work.
