Christchurch Year of the Dragon Parade 2024

Christchurch's annual Lunar New Year Parade will be back in the CBD for the Year of the Dragon!

Come and usher in the auspicious Year of the Dragon with a parade in the city! Colourful costumes, traditional dancers, lions and of course Dragons!

The event will begin with the opening ceremony, or eye-dotting ceremony, of our new Parade Dragon at the Bridge of Remembrance. The dragon will be the longest in the South Island.

The parade will start straight after the ceremony and will wind through Cashel and High Street Mall before arriving in Cathedral Square where the paraders will be presenting many more performances.

Line the parade route and join in behind the parade, don't miss the show at Cathedral Square!
