A night of writers, words and whimsy. Akaroa Open Mic Night celebrates spoken word from around Banks Peninsula and Canterbury. Poetry, Story Telling and Music.
After a sell-out show in August the Akaroa Open Mic Night returns!
The focus is on spoken word and original material, giving those with a penchant for the written word an opportunity to come together and share their work. Akaroa Open Mic are bringing some of Canterbury’s best talent to the stage in Akaroa, this show features Lee Fraser who was the Ōtautahi Poetry Slam Champ 2023-2024 and has had 40 pieces published internationally in the last two years.
Performing alongside Lee as a guest artist will be local legend Lesley Meguid, who will be sharing something special from her song writing journey. If you are a poet or writer who is keen to do a 15-minute set as a guest artist, then Brigid is keen to hear from you and is really keen for locals to have this opportunity.
