Eastern Terrace – water supply main replacement

Update

What

We are replacing the existing wastewater main and laterals as it has come to the end of its life. This needs to be replaced before the new water main is installed later this year.

Why

We need to replace the existing wastewater main because the existing one has reached the end of life. If not replaced it could pose a risk of wastewater infiltrating into the new water trunk main during its installation.

Where

Norwood Street between Tennyson Street and Fisher Ave (refer to map below)

When

From Monday 11 April 2022 to 31 May 2022. Monday to Saturday, 7.00am to 6.00pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

Head Contractor, Seipp Construction. Phone Stuart Anderson on 03 423 1718, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Details

We’re moving into Phase 2 of our project to replace a water main in Eastern Terrace. This phase involves diverting, relocating, and replacing existing pipes, cables and other obstacles to make room for the new water supply main which is going to be installed during Phase 3 later in 2022.

Work on Norwood Street involves replacing the existing sewer main in the middle of the road. Additionally, the wastewater lateral pipes servicing properties on both sides of the road need to be replaced. All works will take place outside the property boundaries and will be completed in the two different stages. The map on the back shows traffic diversion routes, which will be set up as work begins.

Norwood Street will be required to be closed in sections as works move along the street. Works will begin at the Tennyson Street end and move towards Fisher Ave with closures shifting as work progresses. At times there will be restricted access to properties, but effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. Our contractor Seipp will communicate with affected properties closer to the time when this will happen.
