Detail

The work will be completed in stages, starting at 110 Harewood Road.

Stage 1 will involve replacing the sub-main in the berm between 110 and 142 Harewood Road. The footpath and road shoulder will be closed. We expect to complete this work by 31 May.

Stage 2 involves replacing the water main between Wilmot Street and Greers Road, in the eastbound lane. A lane shift will be in place from Greers Road to Wilmot Street with two way traffic maintained. We expect to complete this section by 31 July.

Stage 3 we will be working in the left-hand westbound lane between Greers Road and the roundabout. A single westbound lane will remain open. We expect to complete this section by 31 August.

Stage 4 transitions back to the lefthand eastbound lane. A single eastbound lane will remain open. We will be working from the roundabout towards number 410 Harewood Road and expect to complete this section by 31 October.

We know this sort of work can be disruptive, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Traffic impacts

During each stage, lanes will be affected as follows:

  • Harewood Road (110 to Wilmot Street) – shoulder closure and footpath closure.
  • Harewood Road (Wilmot Street to Greers Road) – lane shift with two-way traffic.
  • Harewood Road (Greers Road to roundabout) – single westbound lane.
  • Harewood Road (Roundabout to 410) – single eastbound lane.

The works along Harewood Road will be completed with a rolling lane closure that moves as the work progresses:

  • Sections of approximately 300m will be fenced off and services fully reinstated before shifting down.
  • Our team will notify each property in advance as we progress along the route. Additional letter drops will also be distributed to keep you updated.
  • Please communicate with the contractor about any critical access requirements that they should be aware of (e.g. health issues that may require immediate attention).

There will also be some night works along these roads, during the temporary water shut-off, to connect the new line to the existing system.

Detours will be in place for road closures, please adhere to signage and allow extra time to avoid delays.

Water shut-offs

Some properties will experience a temporary water shut-off during the night works. If your property is impacted, you will receive a notice about this before the work starts.

Impacts of the works

  • The nature of the works mean they will generate noise, dust and vibrations.
  • We aim to complete most of the work during the day, limiting the amount of night works.
  • The rolling closure allows the team to have a safer working environment, and they will be able to complete the works faster with this method.
  • Access to residences and businesses may be briefly impacted. The contractor will make access available as soon as possible. Please advise them using the contact details above if you have any specific property access requirements, such as large deliveries, medical visits, home help and any planned works.
  • Pedestrian detours will be in place, please adhere to signage.

Please see the map below outlining the areas where we will be working.
