What to Expect

Works of this scale will result in some disruption to regular travel through this section of road.

Throughout the project, the following temporary traffic impacts may occur:

  • Restricted traffic movements.
  • Daytime road closures, with pedestrian access maintained.
  • Full road closures (“hard closures”) where no vehicle or pedestrian access is available.
  • During hard closures, no alternative access routes will be provided. The specific dates and times for these closures will be communicated directly to affected stakeholders in advance.

Important – Access Planning Notes

If you have any planned activities between June and July 2026 that require access through this area, such as:

  • Medical appointments.
  • Livestock movements.
  • Hay or silage deliveries.
  • Fertiliser or fuel deliveries.
  • Machinery movements.
  • Business critical vehicle access.
  • Or any other large or time sensitive movements, please contact us as early as possible.

We will work with you to plan and accommodate these activities wherever feasible.

Day‑to‑day small deliveries will be managed on site by our Temporary Traffic Management Team, who will assist residents and businesses with safe access where possible.

Planned Work Stages

Late April 2026

Site teams will clean the existing box culvert deck and carry out reinforcement bar location checks. This stage is expected to take 2–3 days.

  • Work will be completed during the day under temporary traffic management, but vehicle access will be maintained under the direction of traffic controllers.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • The road will be fully open to traffic outside work hours.
    (7:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday)

Early June 2026

Installation of the precast deck panels and associated roading works will be undertaken. This includes:

  • New bridge approaches.
  • Minor drainage works.
  • Installation of new guardrail systems.

This stage is expected to take 8–10 days.

  • Works will involve a combination of daytime closures and full (“hard”) closures.
  • No vehicle or pedestrian access will be available during active work periods.
  • Pedestrian access will be reinstated outside work hours.
    (7:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday)

Further updates, including specific dates and closure times, will be provided closer to each stage.

Weather and Tidal Conditions

Please note:

  • The box culvert deck strengthening and road reconstruction works are highly weather‑dependent.
  • Associated drainage works are also tide dependent, which may affect scheduling.

During the Works You May Notice

  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration from excavation, drilling, and machinery.
  • Increased truck movements.
  • Pedestrian access maintained during daytime closures (please follow staff instructions at all times).

If you have any specific property access requirements, such as medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, or planned works, please let the contractor know as soon as possible.
