Traffic impacts / property access

Stage 3: Walnut Avenue and Hawthorne Street intersection and Hawthorne Street continuation

  • Works will continue along Hawthorne Street including the Walnut Avenue / Hawthorne Street intersection. The intersection will need to remain closed while a new manhole is installed in the centre of the road and cobblestones reinstated. To enable these works, a temporary road closure will be installed from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday 16 March to Friday 27 March 2026. We ask that during the working hours listed that cars are parked outside of this area on Hawthorne Street. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times during working hours. Outside of working hours and during weekends, access will be restored where safe to do so.
  • Please let us know if you have any specific property requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works etc. and we will do our best to make sure you are accommodated.
  • If there is an emergency and you need to drive through the site during the working hours noted, please notify one of our crew on site and we will do our best to accommodate your access needs. If driving through the works area in such events, please ensure you are being directed by an appointed person on site at all times.
  • Once works have progressed out of the Walnut Avenue / Hawthorne Street intersection, works will continue down Hawthorne Street where again, temporary road closure will be installed from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, outside of the Walnut Avenue intersection area, continuing for approximately 2 months as we work down the remainder of Hawthorne Street (see full scope markup below). We ask that during the working hours listed that cars are parked outside of this area on respective sides of Hawthorne Street closures. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times during working hours. Outside of working hours, vehicle access will be restored where safe to do so.

Further notifications

  • As the project progresses, we will do some additional letter drops to keep you informed of upcoming stages and any property access impacts along Hawthorne Street and Lansbury Avenue.

Other details

The scope of works involves trenching 800 metres of a new wastewater main, including the install of new laterals that will form the new feed connecting to your property at your boundary. We will also be digging small potholes along the road, footpaths and berms to find the location of existing services. This potholing work involves a specialised equipment called a hydro-truck, which can be noisy. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

All this will involve pumping underground water, trenching and excavation works. At the end of this project, we will reinstate the section of road we’ve worked on with new asphalt.

Our schedule will depend on the weather and the condition of the roads. We will provide updates if there are changes to the planned works.

We know this work is disruptive, and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding over this period.
