Fitzgerald Avenue - wastewater investigations (NIGHT WORKS)

What

We’ll be working on the road at night to investigate the location of underground services.

Why

The existing wastewater pipe in this stretch of road needs to be replaced. Investigation work is required to understand the location and condition of the existing underground services, as well as any potential clashes or risks to construction when we replace the pipe.

Where

Fitzgerald Avenue (Moorhouse Avenue to Gloucester Street), Central City.

When

Monday, 19 January 2026 to Tuesday, 10 February 2026. 7pm to 6am (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is March Construction. Queries to Mark Evans on 022 672 9535, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Details

Work will start at Moorhouse Avenue and move north to Gloucester Street block by block. Traffic will be maintained in both directions, with traffic management and safety fencing in place around the block where the work is being carried out.

Pedestrian access will be maintained and our friendly staff will help people get around the site if needed.

We will need to temporarily restrict some on-street parking, so we will place 'no parking' cones out before we start work. We will aim to minimise this as much as possible.

A 30km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our workers and everyone safe. Please be on the lookout for changes in traffic management and follow all signage.

You may notice extra light coming from the street and there will be noise from trucks, machinery and the crew working overnight. We know that night works can be disruptive, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding. We will aim to get the most disruptive work carried out earlier in the evening and will complete our work as quickly as we can.

Please put rubbish and recycling bins out as usual.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
