Flockton Street - wastewater and pavement renewal

What

Renewal of wastewater pipes and road pavement. This notice covers stage 2B of the wastewater works and stage 1 of the road pavement renewal works.

Why

The existing pipes have reached the end of their service life and the road pavement requires upgrading to improve safety and reduce vibration from heavy vehicles.

Where

Flockton Street (Warrington Street to Westminster Street). Wastewater works from Warrington Street to Carrick Street and road pavement works from Speight Street to Westminster Street.

When

5 January 2026 to 31 March 2026. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

  • The works will require a road closure. Before the work starts you’ll receive a site-specific notice from the contractor confirming the work start date and traffic management details.
  • Please obey all traffic management signage and contractors’ instructions. The contractor will liaise with residents regarding vehicle and pedestrian access as work progresses. Residents with specific requests like meals on wheels or medical visits are advised to liaise with the contractor so access can be maintained.
  • Rubbish and recycling collection will be maintained; the contractor will assist in placing bins where they can be emptied.
  • Access for emergency vehicles will always be available.
  • The contractor will endeavour to minimise disruption and will assist with any reasonable requests.
  • Christchurch City Council apologise for any inconvenience.
