Burwood - wastewater renewal and intersection investigations

What

We’re replacing wastewater pipes along several streets in Burwood, the work will be completed in stages between January and June 2026. At the same time, we’re also identifying services at the Burwood and Mairehau Road intersection, ahead of an intersection upgrade planned for the future.

Why

The existing pipes have reached the end of their service life and need replacing. The intersection investigation works are needed to complete the detailed design for the intersection upgrade.

Where

The first stage will take place on Mairehau Road between Greenhaven Drive and Burwood Road. We’ll also be locating services at the Burwood Road and Mairehau Road intersection.

When

The first stage of wastewater work will take place between 12 January and 9 March 2026. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. The service location work at the intersection will take approximately five days starting on 12 January 2026. All timeframes are weather/site condition dependent.

Coordinating works on Mairehau Road

We’re coordinating two projects to minimise disruption for residents and traffic. During the first week, both projects will be underway on Mairehau Road:

  • Wastewater renewal starting near Greenhaven Drive
  • Intersection investigations at Burwood Road/Mairehau Road

Once investigations are complete, the wastewater upgrade will progress towards the intersection.
