Greers Road - road rehabilitation

What

We are carrying out essential road renewal and resealing work on Greers Road.

Why

The road has reached the end of its serviceable life, and is therefore being replaced to ensure it remains safe, reliable, and fit for everyday use.

Where

Greers Road (between Waimari Road and Memorial Avenue), Burnside.

When

12 January 2026 to 13 February 2026. Monday to Friday, 7am to 10pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is HEB Construction. Phone 0800 432 226, Monday to Friday, 8am to 10pm.

Details

The scope of work comprises the removal of the existing road surface, the strengthening of the underlying pavement structure through the placement of new aggregate layers, and the application of a new asphalt surface to enhance durability, improve safety, and deliver a smoother driving experience for residents.

We will also be replacing the watermain from 216 Memorial Avenue through to the Greers Road intersection and continuing to Wairakei Road. These works are scheduled to occur from 6 January 2026 until the end of July 2026.

We acknowledge that road works can be disruptive, particularly given the ongoing watermain renewal work in the surrounding area. To minimise inconvenience, we intend to complete as much of the work as possible during the quieter school holiday period.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts and on-site hazards:

  • The road will be fully closed for the duration of the project, with access permitted for residents only.
  • Detours will be in place throughout the works.
  • Vehicle access to properties will be maintained using steel plates where necessary; however, on-street parking will be limited.
  • Active construction machinery will be operating on site.
  • Noise from heavy equipment and machinery is expected.
  • Vibration and dust may occur during construction activities.
  • Frequent movement of large vehicles will take place within the work zone.
  • Temporary uneven road surfaces may be present.
  • Traffic flow will be restricted and managed under an approved traffic control plan.
