Fitzgerald Avenue - geotechnical investigations (NIGHT WORKS)

What

Council is undertaking geotechnical investigations in advance of the planned renewal of the waterwater pipes.

Why

The existing pipes have reached the end of their service life and require replacing.

Where

Fitzgerald Avenue (between Moorhouse Avenue and Gloucester Street), Central City.

When

19 January 2026 to 9 February 2026. Monday to Sunday, 7pm to 6am (weather/site condition dependent).
The works will be undertaken during night-time hours in order to minimise disruption.

Details

We intend to undertake the planned works within the northbound lane, closest to the median island.

During this period, there may be an increase in dust, noise and vibration levels. We will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience and to manage these effects as responsibly as possible.

Some traffic disruption is anticipated. To reduce the impact on road users, these activities  are scheduled to take place during night-time hours.
