Traffic impacts / property access
First stage: Walnut Avenue and Hawthorne Street
To enable works to occur through this area we will require a temporary road closure from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, starting Monday 10 November and continuing for approximately one month. We ask that during the working hours listed that cars are parked outside of this area on Hawthorne Street. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times during working hours. Outside of working hours, access will be restored.
Next stages: Walnut Avenue and Hawthorne Street
- As the works progress further within Walnut Avenue, Hawthorne Street will reopen, and we will work to open sections of Walnut Avenue to residents access where able to do so. Vehicle access will still be limited to none through these stages, but we will do our best to accommodate residents as much as possible as the project progresses.
- Please let us know if you have any specific property requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works etc. and we’ll do our best to make sure you are accommodated.
- In case of an emergency, access will be provided to emergency vehicles, please notify one of our crew on site and we’ll do our best to give you access. If driving through, please ensure you’re being directed by an appointed person on site at all times.

- As the project progresses, we’ll do some additional letter drops to keep you informed of upcoming stages and any property access impacts along Hawthorne Street and Lansbury Avenue.
Other details
The scope of works involves trenching 800 metres of a new wastewater main, and the laterals that will connect them to your properties. We’ll also be digging small potholes along the road, footpaths and berms to find the location of existing services. This potholing work involves a specialised equipment called a hydro-truck, which can be noisy. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
All this will involve pumping underground water, trenching and excavation works. At the end of this project, we’ll reinstate the section of road we’ve worked on with new asphalt.
Our schedule will depend on the weather and the condition of the roads. We’ll provide updates if there are changes to the planned works.
We know this work is disruptive, and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding over this period.

Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
