Details

As part of upcoming infrastructure improvements, service investigations will be undertaken along Bryndwr Road between Ilam Road and Glandovey Road. These investigations are essential to accurately locate and survey existing underground utilities, such as cables and pipes, to inform future design and construction planning.

Scope of Work

The investigation process includes the following activities:

  • Non-invasive scanning: Initial surveys will be conducted using advanced scanning equipment, similar to an x-ray, to detect the location of underground services without disturbing the road surface.
  • Targeted excavation: Once services are identified, small-scale excavations will be performed to physically confirm their position and depth. This involves:
    • Cutting the road seal
    • Hydro excavation
    • Backfilling
    • Surface compaction

These steps may generate noticeable noise.

  • Material sampling: During excavation, road material samples may also be collected to assess the existing pavement composition.
  • Surveying: The position and depth of located services will be recorded using precision survey instruments.
  • Restoration: All excavated areas will be backfilled and resurfaced upon completion.

Traffic Management

  • Approximately 30 investigation holes are planned along Bryndwr Road.
  • To facilitate safe and efficient operations, Bryndwr Road will be temporarily converted to one-way traffic between Ilam Road and Glandovey Road.
  • Property access will be maintained at all times.
  • Footpath detours may be in place where investigations affect pedestrian areas.
  • Side roads, including Jeffreys Road, Wa-iti Terrace, and Newall Road, will remain open to two-way traffic.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we carry out these essential works.
