Details

Between July 2024 and July 2025, the Council completed major upgrades around One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha.

We are now adding the last layer of asphalt to the footpaths adjacent to the stadium to connect the stadium grounds to the surrounding streets. Street furniture, bike stands, a bus shelter and bollards are also being installed.

Works are happening on the footpaths adjacent to the stadium on (see map):

  • Madras Street (Hereford Street to Tuam Street).
  • Tuam Street (Madras Street to Barbadoes Street).
  • Barbadoes Street (between Hereford Street and Tuam Street).

Traffic Impacts:

  • Most of our work will take place between 7am - 7pm, Monday to Friday.
  • The footpaths adjacent to the stadium will be closed while work takes place. When this happens there will be traffic controllers on hand to escort pedestrians across the road.
  • Pedestrian and cyclist detours will be in place where appropriate.
  • There will be a reduction in lanes, shoulder closures and closures of turning lanes to allow work to go ahead safely.
  • Temporary traffic management (road cones, signs) will be installed as part of the works. Please follow all signage and instructions from our team onsite.
  • There may be some traffic delays.
  • There might be changes to the bus routes while work is completed on Tuam St, please refer to the bus network for information about these changes metroinfo.co.nz.

Information for residents and businesses:

  • The nature of the work that we are doing will generate noise, dust and vibrations.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them, if needed.
