Slater Street – road and footpath renewal

What

We will be undertaking renewal works on the road and footpath along Slater Street, between Shirley Road and Warden Street. To complete this upgrade Slater Street will be temporarily closed between Shirley Road and Warden Street.

Why

We have received funding for the renewal of Slater Street between Shirley Road and Warden Street. In conjunction with this renewal we are planning some upgrades designed to promote safer driving speeds and improve access for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

20 October 2025 to 31 October 2025. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Detail

We will be undertaking a full reconstruction of the road and footpath on Slater Street, between Shirley Road and Warden Street.

To ensure the safety of all road users and construction workers, a temporary road closure will be implemented on Slater Street between Shirley Road and Warden Street for the duration of the works.

During the Closure:

  • Slater Street between Shirley Road and Warden Street will be closed to the public.
  • Residential access for properties within the closure zone will be maintained.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Access to private properties may be restricted at times. If you have specific needs, such as medical appointments, large deliveries, home assistance, or scheduled works please notify our team in advance.
  • On-street parking will be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
  • The contractor’s site office will be located in the carpark of the Shirley Community Reserve. Please be aware of truck movements in this area. Public parking at the reserve will be unavailable during the construction period.
  • We kindly ask all road users and pedestrians to follow posted signage and instructions from on-site personnel.

Additional Impacts:

  • Construction activities may result in increased noise and vibrations. We will make every effort to minimise disruption.
  • There will be no impact to essential services such as electricity or telecommunications.
  • Timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather conditions and the roads. We will provide timely updates should any changes to the planned works occur.
  • Please continue to place your rubbish and recycling bins out by 6am on your usual collection day. Our team will ensure they are moved and returned as needed.
