Details

As part of the Antigua Street Cycle Connection project, we are resurfacing the road on Antigua Street from Moorhouse Avenue to St Asaph Street.

This work will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, and we will be completing most of it overnight, due to the traffic volumes in the area and the nature of the works we need to complete. The works include removing the existing surface of the road, laying new asphalt, construction of speed humps and the pedestrian crossing, and line-marking.

Completing this work at night with the road closed allows the work to be completed quicker and also limits the disruption to traffic. There will be detours in place – please see information below and as shown on the map over the page.

Sunday 28 September – Monday 29 September (day and night works)

From 7am Sunday 28 September to 6am Monday 29 September (day and night), a road closure will be in place on Antigua Street between Moorhouse Avenue and St Asaph Street, which also includes Halkett Street. During the day on Sunday, the existing road surface will be removed and then the resurfacing works will be completed overnight. During this time there will be no access in or out for vehicles or cyclists. Please follow the signposted detour routes –see map on the second page. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Monday 29 September – Sunday 12 October (nightworks – excluding Friday and Saturday nights)

A road closure will be in installed nightly on Antigua and Halkett streets for two weeks, whilst we complete the resurfacing works, construction of speed humps and line-marking. Please follow the signposted detour routes.

During the daytime, and on Friday and Saturday nights, Antigua Street will be one-way northbound for all traffic including northbound cyclists. Southbound cyclists can use the new southbound cycleway which will be open for use.

Please note: access for emergency services will be provided, if required. There will be no work on Friday and Saturday nights.
