Details

From Monday 8 September 2025, we will be installing a new pedestrian crossing on Milton Street, just northeast of the intersection of Simeon Street.

The improvements include new traffic lights, a safe speed platform, wider footpaths, new kerb and channel, additional stormwater infrastructure, and landscaping.

Temporary traffic management will be in place while we complete this work.

We’ll be working overnight on Sunday 14 September to enable the installation of traffic lights.

Additional night work may be required at times, however, we will be in touch with more information at a later date.

Impacts on traffic during our work:

·         There will be no-entry to Milton Street from the northeast end of Simeon Street.

·         Access to Simeon Street from Milton Street will be maintained.

·         Cyclists will need to merge with the traffic through the work site.

·         We will need to temporarily remove on-street parking to allow space for the works.

·         Please follow the signposted detour route and take note of all signage.

·         A 30km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.

Impacts for residents and businesses:

·         Access to properties and businesses for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained around the work site where possible.

·         Some bus stops will be closed, and bus detours will be in place. Please refer to metroinfo.co.nz/updates for updated bus routes.

·         Pedestrians may be detoured at times.

·         There will be increased construction noise and vibrations at times, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.

·         The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.

·         The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.

·         Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.

We appreciate that you’re experiencing a lot of disruption relating to road works in your area at the moment. We’re grateful to the community for your ongoing co-operation and understanding.
