Investigation work for Harewood School - signalised crossing and pedestrian safety improvements

What

We’ll be working on the road investigating the location of underground services.

Why

We’ll be back later this year to install pedestrian improvements and upgrade water pipes on Harewood Road at Harewood School, Waimakariri Road and Whitchurch Place. These investigations will confirm what is under the road and will help us to plan the most efficient construction approach.

Saturday 23 August 2025 to Sunday 24 August 2025. Between 7am to 8pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

We’ll be installing the following later this year:

  • A signalised pedestrian crossing and upgraded water pipes at Harewood School.
  • Widening the path on the south side of Harewood Road from Harewood School to Stanleys Road.
  • A pedestrian crossing on Waimakariri Road and upgraded water pipes on Waimakariri Road and Whitchurch Place.

Traffic impacts:

On Saturday 23 August and Sunday 24 August between 7am and 8pm:

  • On-street parking will be restricted during our work.
  • A 30 km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.
  • Some footpaths will be closed. Our friendly staff will help you move around the site.
  • Some road shoulders will be closed.

Additional information:

  • There will be increased construction noise and vibrations at times, but we’ll do our best to minimise this.
  • The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.
  • Please note: In the event of very wet weather, our contingency weekend will be: Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August  2025.
