What

Construction of a turf nursery to be used for on-going management of the field of play at the One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha.

Why

The turf nursery is required to provide a source of instant turf to quickly repair worn out or damaged areas on the field of play at the One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha as the events schedule dictates.

Mid-August 2025 to early December 2025. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details 

The scope of works will involve:

 

1.     Site clearance and spraying off the existing surface.

2.     Installation of temporary fencing.

3.   Installation of erosion and sediment controls.

4.   Installation of a haul road.

5.     Surface cultivation and topsoil stripping.

6.     Earthworks to form turf nursery platform and perimeter road.

7.     Installation of a new irrigation system.

8.     Installation of primary drainage system.

9.     Installation of perimeter road and fencing.

10.  Installation of turf product.

11.  Seeding and turfgrass establishment.

The physical work to remove the existing grass cover, carry out earthworks, drainage, irrigation and installation of the turf is expected to take around 12 weeks in total and is expected to be completed by early December 2025.

The above work will be carried out separate to, but at the same time as, the completion of construction of the new parks maintenance depot on the same site. The whole site will remain fenced off during this period and not open for public access.
