Keebles Lane and Dublin Street - retaining wall renewal

What

Council will commence construction works to renew the retaining wall at the intersection of Keebles Lane, Dublin Street, and Harkess Lane.
This project is being undertaken to enhance the safety and structural stability of the surrounding roadway.

Why

The retaining wall has reached the end of its design life and needs to be replaced for safety reasons and also to ensure the stability of the road.

Intersection of Keebles Lane, Dublin Street, and Harkess Lane, Lyttelton, Christchurch.

When

11 August 2025 to end of September 2025. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

Road Closure

  • Temporary Road closure from 47 Dublin Street to the Harkess Lane’s hairpin turn, will be in place for the majority of the works, with a detour in place for the Harkess Lane residents via Keebles Lane.
  • There will be a period nearing the end of the works where access via Kebbles Lane to Harkess Lane will be removed and replaced by access via Dublin Street.
  • Traffic Management staff will be able to help direct residents and business owners to their properties within the work area. Please contact Fulton Hogan on 0800 762 334 if you have any specific access needs.

Work impacts

  • The work will be noisy at times and dust and vibration will occur during excavation and drilling of anchors, but the team will try to have this type of work completed as soon as possible.
  • Some on-street parking will be restricted along the street and near work zones for safety reasons.
  • There will be an increased number of trucks and machinery moving through the area.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained. Signage will be installed and directions from Traffic Management staff will be active.

Rubbish collection

Please place bins out by 6am on your collection day. The contractor will move and return them as needed.
