Richmond Neighbourhood Greenway cycleway and safety improvements

What

We will be adjusting the location of a speed hump outside 45 Averill Street and completing final project work outside Pareawa Banks Avenue School, including the installation of flexible bollards, parking signage and line markings.

Why

The speed hump adjustment is needed to accommodate a new development. Other final works on the Greenway project all contribute to the objective of creating a safe shared road space for cyclists and vehicles.

Averill Street (between Chrystal Street and North Parade), Richmond.

When

4 August 2025 to 15 August 2025. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

Work is planned as follows (weather dependent):

  • 4 August to 8 August 2025 - Adjustment of the speed hump outside 45 Averill Street.
  • 7 August to 15 August 2025 - Line marking, including the cycleway separation and parking, and the installation of parking signs.

The works schedule is planned to minimise the disruption for the school and residents.

Following the works, please be extra vigilant with the new road layout.

Traffic impacts

  • A road closure will be in place for the duration of the works between Chrystal Street and 45 Averill Street.
  • Best access to Pareawa Banks Avenue School by car will be from North Parade. Footpaths will remain open.
  • Access will be provided for the residents situated within the work area.

Access for residents and businesses

  • Please be aware your property access may be temporarily impacted at time, but where needed, our crew will make access available as soon as possible.
  • Please advise us when you may be entering and exiting your property and if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visit, home help, large vehicle deliveries and planned works.
  • In some cases, you may experience a minor disruption to your property access for short periods. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

General information

  • The work will not impact on any services, such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them, if needed.
