Details

This works notice relates to Stage 1, phase 3, and two further transitions in the traffic management coming up. Phase 3 work is located along Aorangi Road, between Wairakei Road and Wai-iti Stream (just south of Brookside Terrace) and includes the following scope:

  • Major wastewater and underground service upgrades along Aorangi Road.
  • Preparations for future kerb and channel, road and footpath renewals.
  • Cycleway construction.

We began phase 3 work on 26 May, starting with the section of Aorangi Road (south) between Wairakei Road and Colwyn Street. From 30 June, this work will extend to Brookside Terrace, and from the end of July traffic management will extend to Bateman Avenue. The two upcoming traffic management states are detailed below.

At times, night work may be required. Prior to this happening, those who may be impacted by the work will receive further notification.

Traffic impacts

30 June 2025 to end of July:

  • The road closure currently in place on Aorangi Road, south of Wairakei Road, will extend to Brookside Terrace.
  • The citybound one-way system on Wairakei Road, between Jennifer Street and Pitcairn Crescent, will remain in place.
  • The one-way system on Aorangi Road (north section) - flowing from Condell Avenue to Wairakei Road - will remain in place.

Traffic management to support access to properties in the work area will include the use of temporary traffic lights. More information will be provided to affected residents and businesses.

End of July 2025 to October 2025 (see map):

  • Two-way traffic will be reinstated on Wairakei Road and on Aorangi Road (north).
  • At the intersection of Aorangi Road and Wairakei Road, entry to Aorangi Road (south) will reinstated (but no exit).
  • A southwest one-way system will be in place on Aorangi Road (south), with traffic flowing from Wairakei Road down to Bateman Avenue.
  • At the intersection of Brookside Terrace and Aorangi Road, both Brookside Terrace approaches will have a no entry/exit in place.
  • Colwyn Street residents will need to use the one-way system when entering and exiting their street.

More information about traffic management to support access to properties in the work area will be provided to affected residents and businesses.

Information for residents and businesses

  • There will be no on-street parking in the work area.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, but we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
