Details

From Monday 23 June, we'll begin making road safety upgrades across six work areas in Bromley (please find a map of these locations below).

We're making these upgrades in response to road safety concerns shared by the local community and considered in the Bromley Transport Action Plan. The first phase of  work from the Action Plan is funded in the Christchurch City Council's Long Term Plan 2024 to 2034.

Improvements across six work areas include:

  • 12 speed humps
  • 12 new signs
  • Five areas close to pedestrian crossing points to receive upgraded asphalt
  • Six crossing points upgraded with tactile pavers
  • One pedestrian refuge island
  • Line marking

Work areas are:

  • Work area 1: The intersection of Keighleys Road and Mcgregors Road
  • Work area 2: The intersection of Keighleys Road and Korora Street
  • Work area 3: A section of road between 25 and 39 Keighleys Road, opposite Bromley School
  • Work area 4: A section of Keighleys Road, opposite Cypress Garden Reserve and Bromley Cemetery
  • Work area 5: The intersection of Keighleys Road and Bromley Road
  • Work area 6: A section of road between 42 and 50 Bromley Road, opposite the Bromley Community Centre

We’ll begin in 'Work area 1' and continue southeast, towards 'Work area 6'. We anticipate the work in each area will take approximately two to three days, depending on the weather. For a full list of traffic impacts, please see below.

Traffic impacts:

  • To carry out this work we'll use temporary traffic lights to establish a temporary one-way system through our worksites, during work times.
  • We intend to pack up the one-way system at the end of every day, reinstating two-way traffic after 7pm.
  • On-street parking will temporarily be restricted during our work.
  • Please keep an eye out for our site signage and follow the instructions of our crews.
  • Pedestrians may be detoured at times.
  • Please expect delays and allow for more time when travelling through this area.
  • Alternative route to the industrial area for commercial vehicles: Linwood Avenue - SH 74.
