Details

From Monday, 9 June 2025, we will be upgrading the signals at the Milton Street and Selwyn Street intersection.

To minimise disruption in the area, we are coordinating with Orion while they install an underground 66kV electricity cable at this intersection. These upgrades will also allow us to introduce a pedestrian protection arrow to make this intersection safer for pedestrians.

Temporary traffic management will be in place while we complete this work.

While this is in place:

  • Due to the Orion works, Milton Street between Simeon Street and Selwyn Street will be one way, travelling towards Selwyn Street.
  • Temporary traffic management will be in place at the Milton Street and Selwyn Street intersection.
  • Cyclists will need to merge with traffic through the site.
  • We will need to temporarily remove on-street parking to allow space for the works.
  • Local businesses in the area will remain open during this work.
  • Please follow the signposted detour route and take note of all signage.
  • A 30 km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.

Information for residents and businesses

  • Access to properties and businesses for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained around the work site where possible.
  • We will help people to get around the site. Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
  • The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads. Towards the end of the project, we may need to do a few evenings of night works.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.

We know this work can be disruptive, and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding.
