Richmond Neighbourhood Greenway Cycleway - safety improvements

What

We’re starting the second stage of the final phase of the Neighbourhood Greenway Cycleway. As part of these works, we’re making safety improvements including speed humps and cycleway paint markings in Averill Street.

Why

This will make Richmond roads safer and easier to use and provide better cycle connections for the area, including Pareawa Banks Avenue School.

Averill Street (between Chrystal Street and North Parade), Richmond.

When

22 April 2025 to 27 April 2025. Tuesday to Sunday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

This work will occur between 7am and 6pm, starting Tuesday 22 April and ending Sunday 27 April 2025.  The work will take place along Averill Street, between Chrystal Street and North Parade.

Work is planned as follows (weather dependent):

  • Construction of two new speed humps outside Pareawa Banks Avenue School – Tuesday 22 April to Thursday 24 April 2025.
  • New road and cycleway green painting, line marking to mark the boundaries of the cycleway, and road and cycleway symbols between Chrystal Street and North Parade – Thursday 24 April to Sunday 27 April 2025.

The works schedule has been planned to minimise the disruption for the school and residents.

Following the works, please be extra vigilant with the new road layout.

Traffic Impacts

  • A road closure will be in place for the duration of the works between Chrystal Street and North Parade.
  • Access will be provided for the residents situated within the work area.

Access for residents and businesses

  • Please be aware your property access may be temporarily impacted at times, but where needed, our crew will make access available as soon as possible.
  • Please advise us if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries and planned works.
  • Generally, if you make yourself known to the contractor, and advise when you may be entering and exiting your property, they will be able to work with you to ensure the access you require. In some cases, you may experience a minor disruption to your property access for short periods. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

General information

The work will not impact on any services, such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.

Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them, if needed.
