Charlotte Godley Wayside Cross - reconstruction

What

We are reconstructing the Charlotte Godley Wayside Cross on the Bridle Path.

Why

The Wayside Cross fell in the 2011 Canterbury earthquake. The stone monument will be seismically strengthened and reinstated in its original location up the Bridle Path.

Where

Approximately half way up the Bridle Path, Heathcote Valley.

When

Works start here late February 2025 until early March 2025. Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

  • The Bridle Path will remain open throughout the duration of the works. 

  • Temporary site fencing and signs will be in place to help direct the public around the site. There may be some minor disruptions at times. 

  • There will be some construction plant and vehicle movements taking place during the day. Spotters will be on site during these times to safely assist pedestrians around the construction zone.

  • There may be increased noise during these works.
