We are constructing a new retaining wall to return Whaka Terrace to two lanes. The road has been restricted to one lane due to a slip in the area in 2021. |

Details
Hours of work:
- Work will be completed between 7am to 6pm (Monday to Saturday).
During the works:
- There will be increased noise, dust, and vibration from the use of machinery for activities such as saw cutting, soil excavation, and retaining wall construction.
- On-street parking will be affected where we are working. Cones will indicate where parking will not be available.
- Property access will be maintained where possible. We will work with businesses and residents during the work. Please let us know if you have any specific property access needs e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries or planned works.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained through the site. Please follow the signage and directions of our temporary management staff.
- Please put your rubbish bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.
Road Closure
- Road closures may occasionally be needed to mobilise large equipment and undertake specific construction tasks.
- We will advise residents one week prior to road closures being implemented. On these occasions, the road will be closed from 9am -3pm.
- Traffic Management staff will be able to help direct residents and business owners to their properties within the work area. Please contact Higgins Contractors on 03 341 4370 if you have any specific access needs.
- If you need travel through the site during a road closure, please speak to our staff and we will arrange safe access for you. Please allow a 15-minute waiting period.
- If you have any specific access requirements or concerns, please get in touch in advance so the contractor can accommodate your needs.
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
