Stapletons Road - kerb and channel repairs

What

We’re carrying out remedial work to fix defective kerb and channel. These kerb and channel were completed as part of the recent renewal work between Warden Street and Shirley Road on Stapletons Road.

Why

Unfortunately, the new kerb and channel (gutter) laid during the renewal works did not meet our own Council quality standards. We need to fix this issue to ensure it meets our Construction Standard Specifications.

Where

Stapletons Road (between Warden Street and Shirley Road).

When

21 October 2024 to 8 November 2024. Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is CORDE. Phone 0800 267 338, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.

Details

We’ll be working in your area between Monday 21 October and Friday 8 November fixing defective kerb and channel that did not meet Council's quality assessment standards. Canterbury Kerb and Concrete will be carrying out this work on behalf of CORDE, the lead contractor.

Traffic impacts

  • We’ll need to close the southbound lane between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • A 30kph speed limit will be in place to keep everyone safe.
  • When the work is outside your property, access could be restricted.
  • Please speak to the onsite team and they will organise for you to get in or out of your property safely.
  • In case of an emergency, steel plates will be on hand to provide vehicle access to properties.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Other information

  • The work will have no impact on wastewater, water, electricity, telecommunication, or gas services.
  • There will be some construction noise and vibration during work hours. We will do our best to minimise this.
  • The work will involve kerb and channel removal and relaying, path reconstruction in affected areas, berm replacement and shoulder reconstruction in the affected area.
  • Please put your bins out as usual on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them, if needed.
  • At times, we’ll need to temporarily remove on-street parking to allow space for the works.
  • Please advise our team if you have any specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or planned works.

We know this work can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these important repairs.
