Details
As part of the Halswell Junction Road Extension project, KiwiRail are working on the railway on Saturday 27 to Monday 29 July 2024. These works require a level crossing and road closure on Halswell Junction Road at its intersection with Waterloo Road at the railway crossing to keep everyone safe, see map below:
Traffic Impacts
The road closure will be in place on Saturday 27 July to Monday 29 July. There will be no access across the railway at this time so please follow the detour signs on site.
The road closure will be removed as soon as our work site permits it. Please look out for our staff and follow their instructions. A 30kph speed limit will be in place to keep everyone safe. We know this work is disruptive, so we appreciate your patience and understanding. Thanks for your cooperation whilst this work is undertaken.
Driveway access
Access to properties will be maintained. However, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time. We will try to give you plenty notice of this. However, if you need to get into or out of your property and we are in the way, please just talk to one of our friendly staff and we will make sure you can use your driveway.
Next stage- Information from CCC
KiwiRail is currently completing works on the railway with line closures booked for July (this notice) and August 2024. KiwiRail is progressing works between line closures as part of delivering the project, and a further line closure will be required for the new level crossing to open and the existing level crossing to be closed to all traffic.
KiwiRail is planning these works currently and the aim is to complete them by the end of 2024. Traffic will then be able to use the new link road to travel north on Halswell Junction Road.
Once the new level crossing is open, Fulton Hogan will return to construct the cul-de-sac section of Halswell Junction Road, which will have a new road name and numbering.
The new road name for the cul-de-sac is Panther Place, as decided by the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board in December 2023
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
