Details

As part of the High Street Upgrade (between Tuam Street and St Asaph Street), we need to complete roading works at the intersections of High Street/Tuam Street and High Street/Madras Streets.  Due to the heavy volumes of traffic that use these roads, we are completing these tasks at night to reduce daytime traffic congestion, complete the works quicker, and enhance safety for the workers.

Our work will include:

  • Milling the old road surface and road excavation.
  • Road preparation for the new surface.
  • Installing a membrane seal to the base layer surface of the new road.
  • Installing the asphalt layer on the new road.
  • Line marking.

Whilst we have scheduled noisier tasks to be completed earlier in the night, there will be some noise from machinery and the crew working.  We will do our best to keep this to a minimum. You may notice extra light coming from the street as we will be using additional lighting to ensure the safety and efficiency of the worksite during night-time operations.

Traffic impacts

  • This section of High Street is currently closed to vehicle traffic and will remain closed throughout these works.
  • Whilst works are taking place on Tuam and Madras Streets, there will be traffic management in place.  Please follow the signs.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
  • Please look out for CORDE staff and follow signage on site.  If you need any help, please approach a staff member who will be able to assist.
  • Please advise us if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries or planned works.

We understand that night work can be disruptive, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during this period.  We are working to complete the project as quickly and quietly as possible.  Your co-operation and support are appreciated as we complete this upgrade.
