Details

Takamatua Domain is an import site and has history of Māori and European settlement activity and holds both archaeological and cultural values.

The main features of the landscape development plan are:

  • Wetland, shrub and tree plantings along the northern and southern boundaries of the reserve.
  • A gravel path and raised timber boardwalk leading through the wetland plantings.
  • Grassing of the remaining areas.
  • Boundary bollards on the west and east sites of the Domain.
  • Interpretation panels to recognise the sites history.

The development work is being undertaken through a partnership with Council and the Takamatua Ratepayers Association.  The TRA will be undertaking the work with the boardwalk constructed by Morgan and Pollard.

The boardwalk will be completed in May / June with the remaining items completed over Winter / Spring period, ready for next Summer.
