What are we doing?
We are constructing a shared path cycleway through the rail corridor between Sturrocks Road and Tuckers Road and between Barnes Road and Main North Road. (The section between these points, through Barnes Reserve, is already complete).
As part of the works to extend the cycleway, we are upgrading the kerb and channel, footpath, landscaping and line marking where the shared path intersects the railway level crossing on Sturrocks Road.
Previous crossing closures have been needed to construct the KiwiRail elements of work, in accordance with KiwiRail's resource programme. This stage will tie in all the footpath and civil works. Any further KiwiRail signalling works to commission the crossings is unlikely to require any further closures.
