Details

Over a period of five weeks, we will be making some essential safety improvements at the intersection of Briggs Road / Marshland Road / Lake Terrace.

We are installing raised safety platforms on all four approaches to the intersection. These platforms are like long flat top speed bumps designed to slow traffic to give people time to react and avoid a crash. If a crash does happen the impact is less severe at lower speeds.

The works will also involve new kerb alignment on Lake Terrace Road, footpath improvements and new road markings.

We went out for consultation on these improvements in September 2022 and received helpful feedback from members of the community. The designs for these improvements were approved by the Community Boards in November 2022.

Please find key information about these improvements below:

  • There will be a number of traffic management layouts implemented while the work is completed.
  • These will be a variation of road closures, one-ways, shoulder closures, lane drops and temporary parking removal.
  • We will communicate which of these specific changes are going to be implemented closer to the time.
  • Business and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
  • The bulk of this work will happen during the day but there will be times when we will carry out specific tasks at night when the roads are quieter and less congested.
  • We will communicate with affected parties before any night works start.
  • Increased construction noise disturbance may be encountered but the contractor will endeavour to keep this to a minimum
  • Please follow the directions provided by the onsite traffic management team at all times.
  • Please advise us via the contact information above if you have any specific property requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works.
