We are providing flood protection, stormwater storage & treatment and ecological restoration of tidal wetland to the area of the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor (OARC) Regeneration Area.

To restore the former residential red zone as per the OARC (Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor) Regeneration Plan.

Area bound by the Ōtākaro Avon River, Pages Road and Anzac Drive.

First phase will be completed between 19 April 2023 to 10 January 2024. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

There will be various contractors on site as the project works are divided into several separate Contracts. Phone Christchurch City Council Project Manager, Mark Penrice (03) 9418999, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Work will take place in the whole area bound by the Ōtākaro Avon River, Pages Road and Anzac Drive. The resulting plan can be seen on the next page.

The main aspect of work is divided into three phases. This will be a controlled but not continuous activity:

  1.  Move the discovered contaminated material from within the Waitaki project site to the sites identified within the red boxes (refer to diagram) and secure it within the site boundary. The area will be fenced off and capped as per the necessary regulations to ensure there is no harmful exposure to the environment
  2.  Secure the material with an earthen bund around its perimeter for added environmental protection measures
  3. Landscape the area

Safety is our number one priority. Safety is your responsibility too. Stay clear and stay alert. Please keep children and pets at a safe distance from the worksite and construction machinery.
