We're rebuilding a section of Charteris Bay Road because it has reached the end of its life and needs to be strengthened with additional materials.
Work on rebuilding the road starts on Monday 6 January 2025 and is expected to be completed by Friday 17 January 2025, weather and site conditions dependent.
While work is underway a section of Charteris Bay Road will be reduced to one lane and controlled with temporary traffic lights, as shown on the map above. The speed limit in the work area will be 30kph.
Additionally from Wednesday 8 January 2025, for about three days from 8am to 4pm, there may be delays of up to 20 minutes. Please plan your journey accordingly.
During construction the road surface won't be appropriate for cyclists so please avoid using this area if possible.
Our contractor Fulton Hogan will be on site and can assist with any queries. Please follow any signs or traffic management measures that they have in place.
Emergency services access will be possible if required.
