Summit Road

Track status: Open

Start: Dyers Pass Road, Port Hills.

Finish: Godley Head, Banks Peninsula.

Description:  Start at Sumner or Cashmere.

At Cashmere there is an option to take Dyers Pass Road or Hackthorne Road.

Dyers Pass and Hackthorne Roads are busy roads. Take extra care when crossing the intersection of Hackthorne Road and Dyers Pass Road. The two roads intersect again further up the hill at the Sign of the Takahe.

Follow Dyers Pass Road to the Sign of the Kiwi.

At the brow of the hill (at the Sign of the Kiwi) there is a four way intersection. Turn left and follow the Summit Road through to Evans Pass Road.

At Evans Pass Road (a four way intersection) turn sharp left and follow Evan Pass Road down into Sumner village or if you want to extend your ride a little - continue straight through the intersection (slightly to the left) to Godley Head, a very scenic out and back.
