Kim MOSS

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward area.

I am dedicated to ensuring our community thrives. It is important that the health and wellbeing of our community comes first.
My career is centred on improving working conditions in our communities and being sensitive to the increasing cost of living, to ensure a positive flow-on effect for families.

Mark PETERS

Independent For Hornby

Mark PETERS

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward area.

Over the past three years I have worked hard as your Elected Representative in the Hornby Ward ensuring things get done.
My message is simple: we need modern infrastructure that works, and the basics delivered well. Your rates money must be spent smarter, and Hornby needs to receive its fair share. I provide a strong emphasis on the things that really matter.
I successfully led the Save Denton Park Group, fought for the Hydrotherapy Pool to be added to the Hornby Centre, and helped form the Greater Hornby Residents Association.
I live in South Hornby with my family and am actively involved in our local Rotary Club and Hope Presbyterian Hornby.
I'm here for our community, and for you. Together we can make Hornby an even better place to live.
Vote Mark Peters for the experienced, independent, and strong voice, representing Hornby.

Derek TAIT

My principal place of residence is not in the Hornby Ward area. I am also standing for Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board.

As a conservative independent, I believe that the people of our great city need to be served by those who truly represent their voice.
We face massive challenges; the city's debt, rates increases, three waters fiasco, escalating crime, lack of hospital parking and infrastructure neglect.
To address these issues, and have Christchurch lead as New Zealand's most sought-after city in which to live safely and affordably, we need to be fiscally responsible, and that means a back-to-basics direction.
I have dedicated my adult life to the service of others through family-focussed initiatives, and know that leadership begins at the grass roots of our communities.
I commit to being accessible, transparent and accountable - knowing that, decisions affecting our everyday lives must be in consultation with our residents.
Hornby residents, I ask for your vote and shall consider it a privilege to serve as your voice on council.

Richard ALDERSON

A Better Hornby

Richard ALDERSON

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

After living and working in Christchurch, my family and I have recently settled into the Hornby ward.
I was an active member of the Dallington Residents Association and was chairperson for two years. I have also run in previous local body campaigns. I found this experience combined with my business management background, that I have the skillset to consider all council matters raised and the ability to communicate these interests. Being able to provide effective local representation on the community board and be a strong voice to advocate the interests of the community, is a key driver.
I believe we should embrace community diversity; Important to listen and in being open to consultation. I stand for a chlorine free water supply, where we keep water assets managed locally and carefully manage water rates. I want to see a resilient, thriving and safe community.

My family and I have lived in Hornby for 36 years.
I was the legal researcher and a member of the Save Denton Park Group, helping save our historical gift of green space Denton Park, this is where my interest to stand for community board began.
My strengths and working experience relate to the areas of personal and group counsel and legal advocacy, especially involving disability.
I am passionate about our community and a strong believer in democratic public participation and inclusive informed consultation. I will therefore endeavour to represent the wishes of the Hornby residents accurately and comprehensively to the Council, ensuring we are all acknowledged and respected.
I have worked with a Hornby Primary school program for the last 11 years, which has been very rewarding and a lot of fun.
My personal interests include football, camping, reading and music and I attend a local church in Hornby.

Sarah BRUNTON

Sarah BRUNTON

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I am a long-term member of the Hornby community, a wife and mother of two, with a professional background in finance, legal advocacy and health, and with a specific interest in mental health.
I'm standing because I believe that a thriving community is vital to the wellbeing of our people.
I'm deeply concerned by the burden of continual rate rises on ratepayers and our community's ability to sustain these. I believe it's essential that we focus on delivering core services efficiently and effectively. We, as ratepayers, must also retain ownership of our precious water resources - which the Three Waters reforms would remove.
I stand for honesty, transparency, accountability and personal freedom for every individual. I also value diversity of opinion and expression and believe that our best solutions come from bringing people and community together.
Together we can create meaningful, long-term change for a better future.

Henk BUUNK

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

People come first.
I have lived in Hornby for 45 years and have been actively involved in the community - schools, churches, Trusts and I am currently involved at 126 On The Corner with my wife Tracey.
I believe we need a great environment for our families to live and grow in. We face major challenges with climate change; everyone has a part to play in that. I support alternative fuel and power supplies, changes in our lifestyles to have less waste and efficient disposal options.
Our community has major traffic concerns on roads and intersections, which are not fit for purpose and in some cases, dangerous.
I want to see our community facilities kept and well used including parks, reserves, and buildings. There is space to plant more native trees and shrubs to encourage birdlife and our enjoyment of this area. I work hard for people and I love Hornby.

It is time to make your vote count! As opportunities for Hornby's development present themselves it is vital we get the most out of them. Our community continues to grow, but parts of our infrastructure have been neglected and need addressing. Roading, traffic, housing density and public transport are commonly mentioned in my conversations with residents. I have lived in the greater Hornby area most of my life and have just bought my first home within the ward. Throughout the 12 years of my career in corporate customer service roles I have developed effective communication skills and efficient problem solving. With your support I believe we can make active and meaningful changes for our community. Please contact me anytime on 0225870294 or at mattpalmer4hornby@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you about how we can improve our community and make sure it stays something we can all be proud of.

Manjit SINGH

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

It has been a privilege to be a part of Hornby and Templeton community. I am an experienced kindergarten teacher and teaching for over twenty years. I am committed and passionate professional and love working with children, families, and community. I understand the importance of cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and community engagement.
In recent past there have been many changes in Hornby and surrounding areas, which led us to face challenges such as traffic congestion, parking problems, quarries, under investment in infrastructure and vandalism. The issue of increase in crime rate and the safety of our residents need to be addressed.
My focus is on investing our rates in the areas that needs the most and where it matters. It's time for a new face and a new perspective for Hornby. I will look forward to the opportunity of representing and serving our community. For positive change, please vote Manjit Singh.
