Councillor and Community Board candidates in the 2025 local elections for the Banks Peninsula Ward.
Banks Peninsula Ward Councillor.
Independent for Banks Peninsula
My principal place of residence is in the Banks Peninsula Ward area.
I'm standing as an independent to put Banks Peninsula first.
My job is to give you a voice, to understand what’s important, and enable our communities to work well with Council.
Rate increases and the cost of living mean it’s tough times for many people, particularly those on a fixed income. Council must stop overspending and focus on what matters.
I’ll work hard to make sure your money is spent wisely.
My wife and I have lived in Lyttelton for nearly 30 years, raising our family here. We also run an eco-yurt farm stay in French Farm.
I’m not a career politician and I’m not here to follow a party line. I’ll always represent you.
Through my broadcasting and business career I’ve learnt that solutions start with listening first, then action and solving problems. That’s the common-sense approach I’ll bring to Council.
I’d appreciate your vote.
The People's Choice
My principal place of residence is in the Banks Peninsula Ward area.
Banks Peninsula has more than 30 strong communities. As your Councillor, my job is to listen, learn, and fight for you all at the council table.
For three years I’ve stood up for Banks Peninsula, working with you and walking alongside mana whenua to protect our environment, stop our port from being sold, and deliver on local facilities.
My goal for the next three years is to keep important projects moving. Our water infrastructure needs upgrading. We need to keep our roads working and build resilience to a changing climate. We must strengthen what we have.
The environment we love isn’t just a buzzword. We’re improving the health of our harbours. The Peninsula leads the predator-free movement, and our forests and birds are recovering. Let’s support that.
We’ve achieved a lot together and can keep going. It would be an honour to represent you in council for three more years.
As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Lyn LESLIE is elected unopposed to the Wairewa Community Subdivision of the Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board.
