Councillor and Community Board candidates in the 2025 local elections for the Mount Herbert Community Subdivision and Banks Peninsula Ward.
Banks Peninsula Ward Councillor.
Independent for Banks Peninsula
My principal place of residence is in the Banks Peninsula Ward area.
I'm standing as an independent to put Banks Peninsula first.
My job is to give you a voice, to understand what’s important, and enable our communities to work well with Council.
Rate increases and the cost of living mean it’s tough times for many people, particularly those on a fixed income. Council must stop overspending and focus on what matters.
I’ll work hard to make sure your money is spent wisely.
My wife and I have lived in Lyttelton for nearly 30 years, raising our family here. We also run an eco-yurt farm stay in French Farm.
I’m not a career politician and I’m not here to follow a party line. I’ll always represent you.
Through my broadcasting and business career I’ve learnt that solutions start with listening first, then action and solving problems. That’s the common-sense approach I’ll bring to Council.
I’d appreciate your vote.
The People's Choice
My principal place of residence is in the Banks Peninsula Ward area.
Banks Peninsula has more than 30 strong communities. As your Councillor, my job is to listen, learn, and fight for you all at the council table.
For three years I’ve stood up for Banks Peninsula, working with you and walking alongside mana whenua to protect our environment, stop our port from being sold, and deliver on local facilities.
My goal for the next three years is to keep important projects moving. Our water infrastructure needs upgrading. We need to keep our roads working and build resilience to a changing climate. We must strengthen what we have.
The environment we love isn’t just a buzzword. We’re improving the health of our harbours. The Peninsula leads the predator-free movement, and our forests and birds are recovering. Let’s support that.
We’ve achieved a lot together and can keep going. It would be an honour to represent you in council for three more years.
Mount Herbert Community Subdivision - Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board.
The People's Choice
My principal place of residence is in the Mt Herbert subdivison of the Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board area.
Banks Peninsula deserves strong, experienced, informed voices at the table to ensure that the needs of the people and environment are met.
My career as a clinician and as a senior leader in health has given me a strong understanding of how complex public organisations work, and how to create positive change. I hope to bring these skills to the Community Board table.
We have strong communities across the Peninsula who have capacity to do great things. Being part of rebuilding the Jetty in Governors Bay has shown me what local people are capable of. Working together will help us maintain and restore this unique community.
Banks Peninsula is not just a place to visit, it’s where we live. We need clean water, safe & reliable transport links, fast internet and a sustainable environment. I want to advocate for fair access to ratepayer funded services and facilities on the Peninsula.

I have lived in Allandale for nine years with my husband and three children, prior to this we lived in Wainui, Akaroa for a decade. I have a long history of involvement with the Banks Peninsula as a whole, and call it home. I am standing for the Mt Herbert subdivision community board because hope to add value to decisions that affect our beautiful area and the people who live here. I offer executive management skills: for the past 17 years (and counting) I’ve led a large not for profit organization which requires strategic thinking, a solution-focused mind-set, the ability to plan and execute, financial acumen, curiosity, and most importantly a genuine desire to engage with people and build positive and constructive relationships. A vote for me is a vote for someone who understands the need for authentic community voice; I will listen first, and then get cracking.
My principal place of residence is not in the Mt Herbert subdivison of the Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board area.
I live in Cass Bay, just a few metres from the subdivision boundary. I am a father, a small business owner, and a passionate environmentalist. I want to see our beautiful harbour and peninsula continue to grow into a prosperous business community that is also rich with birdlife and native trees. I want our water to always be safe for our tamariki to swim in. As a former journalist I am very well versed in studying Council papers, turning up, discussing, and asking hard questions. I love that this is a community where I know my neighbours and so many others, and want to do what I can to support the people of Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula.
