My principal place of residence is not in the Heathcote Ward area. I am also standing for Heathcote Ward of the Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board.

As a proud resident of the Heathcote Ward I am very involved with our community at the grassroots. I served on the Community Restorative Justice Board, am an International Peer To Peer Support practitioner, qualified fitness instructor and have established and developed a successful community initiative that assists people in finding a positive life-path forward.
I am deeply concerned about the obstacles confronting our residents; rates increases, crime, essential infrastructure, three waters and city parking costs. These issues need to be addressed immediately and in practical ways that benefit our residents.
A major hurdle that we face is the lack of trust in the council from the people. Councillors need to be more accessible and sincerely listen to the people.
It is my promise to represent our residents on council, in truth, transparency and integrity. The buck stops with me, first and foremost. Together, we can achieve positive change.

Like most Cantabrians, I want to see equal opportunity for everyone, a thriving local economy, and a clean, sustainable landscape for our children to enjoy now and in future. But there are many challenges facing us that need to be managed with great care. Key issues are more green spaces (Heathcote has one of the lowest levels of tree canopy cover in Christchurch), sea level rise, housing density, public transport and keeping rates affordable. The Council needs fresh faces working more effectively to engage with everyday people and businesses. A born and bred Cantabrian and Lincoln graduate, I've recently established roots back in Christchurch following a creative and corporate career. Being new to politics is an advantage, no preconceptions. I'm independent, energetic with common-sense. A vote for me is a vote for positive economic, social and environmental outcomes for us all.

As your local councillor I am active, open and accessible in our many communities. I consistently push for greater investment in our water infrastructure, for safe and sustainable transport options such as the Coastal Pathway, and for our natural environment. I work to empower community groups, improve engagement and increase transparency of Council processes.
We've faced many challenges as a city and worked together to overcome them. Let's work together on climate change too. Let's lower our emissions, enhance our waterways and increase biodiversity.

I was born and raised in Lyttelton and am glad I relocated to the Valley following the earthquakes. I adore this region and the natural beauty that surrounds it. Hiking through the Port Hills or strolling through Ferrymead Park really makes me appreciate where I live, which is why I'm running for community board. I want to learn more about local politics in order to preserve what we already have and make improvements where I can.

I have been involved with local community groups for over 30 years, most recently Sumner Bays Union Trust which I currently Chair. Our focus is to nurture and support community groups and I have seen the positive results from this and the long term benefits to the commmunity. Building resilience and stronger connections.

As an elected representative I have a proven track record representing residents. I ask the hard questions, seek accountability and get the answers on your behalf. I will rock Councils boat.
This is a defining election. The proposed Three Waters process is fatally flawed. The reform is right but the method is wrong.
Ratepayers are losing faith with council. They want a change of culture, transparency, quality consultation and accountability.
My focus includes re-assessing councils spending priorities, water quality, climate change policy that has at its heart the people, financial accountability to ratepayers, improved infrastructure and community based decision making processes.
New business strategies and innovations must be implemented and we need to rethink the role of Council. The primary function of council must be to provide basic infrastructure.
I am decisive, determined and dependable and I will represent all Heathcote residents with enthusiasm.
Better councils do make better communities.

I have a science doctorate and am a business development professional with a passion for the environment, healthy cities, and effective democracy. As a board member of the Coastal Pathway Group and the Opawaho Heathcote River Network I work within the community to help create recreational opportunities and protect our natural environment. I now have six years' experience as a community board member and in that time strongly supported the Heathcote River recovery plan, many community support and development initiatives, and recreational opportunities for all.
If elected again I will continue work to ensure that our community board is effective at turning needs, hopes and ideas from our communities into actions that lead to results. I will seek to help Heathcote have a cleaner, healthier, urban environment, especially the waterways and estuary. I will support safe active urban transport, protecting our drinking water, and support appropriate business development opportunities.

My name is Carl Roberts and I am standing for the Heathcote Ward Community Board 2022.
I am a proud Cantabrian, parent, husband and registered mental health nurse.
I strongly believe in honesty and integrity and will ensure the basic level of democracy is adhered to, be the voice for those who are unable to speak up or be heard, making a difference for our community.
The future direction of our city is important, and should be what the ratepayers of the city are asking for. Our rates should be used wisely for the future growth and sustainability for our city while maintaining and retaining ownership of quality local infrastructure and local public services that are cost effective for households and businesses.

Building local resilience is essential in these uncertain times. By drawing on the wisdom of the community, skill-sharing, exchanging resources, growing food and supporting one another we can face any challenge.
I believe that communities thrive when they have the power to manage local issues without interference from central government or other agencies. I do not support Three Waters and would push to remove our Council from LGNZ in order to reinstate Christchurch's pristine drinking water. I also want better access to healthy locally grown food.
I have two school-aged children and a background in science with a PhD in Nutrition and further training in epidemiology. I have a variety of experience working in large multidisciplinary teams. Giving back to the community has always been an important part of my life and I feel that I can make a valuable contribution on behalf of the people in the Heathcote ward.

I believe that communities are threads that weave a great city together. If elected I will advocate for funding grassroots organisations that strengthen communities and regenerate natural ecosystems; for quick responses on issues; and strategies for local safety and security.
I have a personal history of community service, serving on Te Tira Kāhikuhiku which enables transitional uses of our red- zones; working with the Styx Living Laboratory Trust to enhance that precious river environment; and until recently was active on Green Effect Trust (Trees for Canterbury in Ferrymead), and Watch This Space Trust.
I lecture at the University of Canterbury and run a central city shared workspace supporting creative entrepreneurs. I consult to businesses on communication and fresh initiatives.
