Wycola skate park has reached the end of its useable life and needs revamping. We want to know what features are important to you and any suggestions you may have.
Robin Playground renewal consultation went out from 12 December 2022 to 13 February 2023. During this time we heard from 55 individuals.

We’re currently in the process of finding a designer who can take the consultation feedback and create a draft plan. This plan will be used when we engage with the local schools and the community to create the final plan for Wycola skate park. We expect to go back out to the community with a concept plan in 2025.
The existing space at Wycola skate park contains one of the first skate bowls built in Ōtautahi Christchurch. The skate park is made from concrete and asphalt with many cracks making it unsafe.
A Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design report in 2021 recommended a skate park re-design to reduce the hiding areas where anti-social behaviour could occur.
We're now working with the community to make the current layout at Wycola skate park safer.
We want to understand what you think could work in the current space, what features are important to you and any other suggestions you may have for a new skate park. Your feedback will help us develop the draft skate park design.
In the future, funding may become available for a larger skate facility for the wider Hornby area. We currently think this would be best located in Kyle Park and we'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
We'll continue to keep the community in the loop. We're planning to do further engagement with schools, local community groups, businesses and residents to capture feedback that will also be used to develop draft designs.
Once we have a draft design, this will be presented to the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board. We will then invite the community to provide feedback on the draft designs.
