Consultation has now closed

Consultation on the Sabina Playground renewal has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from 17 September to 20 October.

We'll be sharing the design of the playground, based off what was chosen during consultation, in the coming months.

Sabina Playground is a valuable community asset that needs a great selection of new play equipment, in a new location.

All the existing play equipment will be removed as it has reached the end of its useful life. Restrictions in the current Christchurch District Plan rules mean we need to build the new playground more than 10m out from a residential fence. We plan to locate the new play space near the front of the park, and take up approximately one third of the space shown in this plan [PDF, 969 KB], so there will still be room to kick a ball around or use the grass area for other activities.

A new play space with modern and fit-for-purpose play equipment will be constructed with a new accessible path from the street to the playground to improve access. All existing trees will remain as well as some new low planting.
