The Linwood/Woolston community has celebrated the start of construction work on the eagerly-awaited Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool.
Representatives of the local community and members of the Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board gathered on site for a symbolic sod-turning.
On the shovels was Bob Todd, longtime chair of the local community board and an early supporter of the push to get swimming facilities in the Linwood and Woolston community.

The centre will be a part of the network of facilities available across Christchurch.
The new facility will feature:
- A learn-to-swim pool
- A six-lane multi-use pool
- Toddler pool and wet deck with water toys
- Family spa
- Deep water manu/splash pool
- Large multi-purpose room with kitchen
- Small meeting room
- Outdoor courts
We will use the questionnaire to help prioritise and make the most of what we can provide.
