Some local residents have asked us to install no stopping restrictions on Perth Street. Parked cars on both sides of the street make it difficult for vehicles (including emergency vehicles and rubbish trucks) to get through due to the narrowness of the road. Currently, there are sections of P5 parking on the east side of Perth Street, but local residents have reported that this is often ignored.
No stopping options
Option 1
Sections of alternating no stopping lines meaning vehicles will navigate the street in a zig zag manner.
Option 2
No stopping on the east side meaning traffic will have a straight line of travel.
The same layout on both sections will provide consistency, however you may prefer two different options.
We would like to hear from you on what option you prefer for each section.
Consultation closes - 23 March 2020
Decision meeting - May 2020
Project start - June 2020 (subject to approval)
Prior to the earthquakes there were more no stopping lines than what is currently in place. With subsequent road repairs these lines have not been reinstated. We will be addressing this by reinstating the previous no stopping restrictions as part of our works.
