The skate features at Bishopdale Park are nearing the end of their useable lifespan. It's time to get a new design that caters more for beginner to intermediate skaters.
Bishopdale Park is home to one of the larger skates area in Christchurch, but we know its losing popularity due to its condition.
We’re working closely with experienced riders to develop a plan that's designed by skaters, for skaters.
Our design uses ideas and suggestions you gave us at the Bishopdale Skate Jam in December 2018, and feedback from readers of the Bishopdale Skate e-newsletter.

The existing concrete slabs will be resealed and the pyramid, quarter pipe and spine ramps will be replaced with a new half pipe, granite ledge, low pyramid and pump bumps (see images below). We propose to replace many of the worn out features with street plazza style ones.
The mini half pipe will stand at 1.2m in height with a width of 5m and length of 6m and a total length of 8.8m including the decks.
We'll add to some of the existing features, with pump bumps, rollovers and street skate features such as styled concrete curbs and a jersey barrier blended into a rollover finger.
The total area will increase from 1197m2 to nearly 1300m2, in comparison the new Knights Stream skate park in Halswell is just over 1000m2.
