This consultation has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from 19 November 2018 to 12 December 2018.
During this time we heard from 43 individuals and groups.

Background
In May 2018, we received a request from local residents to plant in the West Broken Run Reserve.
In July, we invited the local community to a BBQ in the reserve and speak to us about what they would like to see in a landscape plan for the reserve.
Concerns were also raised about drainage and the frequency of lawn mowing in the reserve. Plants have been selected to suit the environment, with species that tolerate wet feet around a waterway. By planting out more of the reserve, this will also reduce the grassed area while creating a more inviting environment. These ideas have been incorporated into the plan overleaf.
In October, we held a community planting day at the reserve and plan to hold another in winter 2019.

Proposed landscape plan
The proposed plan [PDF, 3.9 MB] includes the following:
- A focus on native species
- Riparian planting along the edges of the waterway
- Planting on the north and south banks with lower planting on the southern banks to reduce shading of houses
- Areas of flax planting
- Feature trees (including nut trees)
- Fruit trees including Apricot, Damson, Feijoa, Pear, Plum and Quince and fruit bushes
including Blackcurrants, Blueberries and Gooseberries- Nature play area incorporating logs, boulders and low planting
- Boardwalk over the stream (subject to additional funding)
